History of Tax Freedom Day

The idea of this day has its beginning in the year 1948. Even at that time this idea copyrighted by a Florida based businessman Dallas Hosteler. Dallas Hosteler took a very daunting and as well as laborious task. This was to calculate the exact tax burden which the people of the country is going to pay or the government of the United States of America is going to earn in every financila year. Dallas Hosteler made this calculation in the coming two decades. In this period of 20 years he was the person who undertook the laborious work of tax collection. The calcuation made by Dallas Hosteler include every kind of tax payment. This include taxes received by the local governing authorities ( muncipal cor poration and civic bodies) and also the state and federal governments.

In the year 1971 Dallas Hostler retired from the work of calculating the total tax of the USA which is to be realised on Tax Freedom Day. The task of tax calculation was entrusted on the organization Tax Foundation. Since the year 1971 this organization has been calculating the tax which is to paid to the various goverments of the United States of America. The calculation made by Tax Foundation for calculating Tax Foundation Day is also helpful for calculating the exact proportion of the national income which is going to be diverted in the various funds of the governments to meet the various costs of government programmes.

Before 1990 the organization Tax Foundation was calculating the tax freedom for the federal government of the United States of America. After 1990 since the present day this organization has been calculating Tax Freedom Day for every individual state of the country that means this organization counts the exact amount of taxes which is to paid to every provincial government of the United States of America.

Organizations like Tax Foundation have also grown up in oter countries of the world and their aim is also to calculate their individual Tax Freedom Day. They make their own analysis depending upon the tax structure of that country. Tax Foundation of the United States of America has reported that at present 8 countries of the world have their own Tax Freedom Day. The interesting fact about this Tax Freedom Day is that Tax Freedom Day of one country can never be compared with another country.
